Since 2015 the 86 meters long and 16 meters high Transmission Hall “Europe 1” made of pretensioned concrete is not in use anymore. The building was formerly in use by the French longwave transmitter “Europe 1” (2.000 kw) near Felsberg / Beris in the State of Saarland. The building is one of the most impressive European monuments of the post-war era. Since 1999 the transmitter that started in 1955 is protected as a monument. The architects were Jean-François Guédy and Eugene Freyssinet. Owner is the municipality of Überherrn. INIKs task was to develop a re-use concept including the building documentation and architectural research.
