Based on the re-use concept set up by INIK in 2012 the Borsig Industrial Plant is under preservation work. INIK’s partner of cooperation is the Berlin based office of Lorenz & Co. Ingenieure. The nationally recognized monument of the industrial past including storage building and gas generator house will be entirely preserved and gradually re-used. The foundation of the preservation work is the following steps of preservation: phase 1 “protection of monument”, phase 2 “activation of sculpture” and “re-use of Borsig Plant”. In that context the planning process refers also to the surrounding Finow Chanel and the neighboring “Familiengarten” – a leisure park on the former steel works plant. The Preservation Planning Department of the State of Brandenburg supports the project.
