The aim of the TOPOMOMO-project was to set up a new tourism network of Modern Movement sites in the German-Czech border area. The center of “Topography of the Modern Movement Buildings” is the Schminke House in Löbau designed by the architect Hans Scharoun in 1930. From 1999 to 2000 the building had been renovated with the financial support of the Free State of Saxony, the Federal Republic and Wüstenrot Foundation (Architects: Pitz & Hoh Architektur und Denkmalpflege GmbH, Berlin). Today the "Foundation Schminke House" offers professional information, visitor tours and accommodation in the building. “Topography of the Modern Movement Buildings" support the Schminke House to become an international meeting point for cultural tourists with a focus on Modern Architecture in Saxony, Lower Silesia in Poland and around the Czech town of Liberec.
