Upper Permian reef complex of Orla region/Thuringia
Feasibility study for the touristic development
-0,2

At an early stage the Orla dip was characterized by the mining of raw materials and later of industrialization, as it is a very special geologically region. The southern coast of the Upper Permian Ocean, which covered northern and central Europe about 260 million years ago, ran long through the Orla dip. Here, the first oxygen producers on earth formed reefs. Today they shape the landscape as hill and rock formations. Nowhere in Europe such reefs are so well preserved above ground. Tourism has nevertheless played a clearly minor role so far. The preparation of a feasibility study for the development of this formations and ist surroundings, which is important in professional circles and which is generally used as a model, but which is generally unknown to a large extent, is now intended to clarify whether a tourist development and commercialization is recommended. The aim here is concrete proposals for measures and cost estimates.
