Energy Hall in Guben
Energetic renovation of an industrial hall
80

The aim of the competition was the reuse of a historic hall building of the former textile mill "Gubener Wolle, Werk 1 " in the German-Polish border town Guben-Gubin. The re-use concept included as well solutions for a cost-and energy-efficient supply. As an energy consultant operated the study course supply engineering of the Lusatian University of Applied Science in Cottbus (Prof. Dr. Eberhard Brandt).

The concept provided a sustainable energy supply with renewable energy for the hall. The textile mill situated right on the Neisse River is an important component of urban architecture, and highlights the history of urban development in the course of industrialization. The INIK strategy based on a use of water as an energy source and included a heat pump technology. Thus, the costs of heat energy for industrial buildings and CO2 emission could be reduced.
