I6 Factories Online
Internet platform for industrial immovables

INIK strategy:
The aim of „Factories Online“ is to create a standardized internet platform for marketing and information of historic industrial buildings. With the help of this special online offer the industrial buildings could be amenable for the broad international public.

Background:
Since 1989 the city of Forst (Lusatia) undergoes economic and demographic changes, which are also visible in the urban structure. Therefore new solutions for the increasing vacancy in historic buildings are needed. Particularly in danger are the unused industrial buildings that spread through the whole city form the cityscape The location, the building typology, ownership structure, and the state of preservation make the re-use difficult. Interested party and specialized planners cannot get a detailed and comprehensive view of the areas and buildings. The peripheral location of Forst and the small degree of popularity in supra-region additionally hinder establishing contacts among potential buyer and owner, respectively the city council. The municipality of Forst (Lusatia) is a very good example for many local authorities in the new federal states that have similar problems.
