INIK strategy:
The aim of INIK strategy is to make the historic value of the whole housing estate in Centrum Południe / Zabrze comprehensible for its owners and residents. The vital idea of the project is the preservation of the settlement in line with (generally) accepted conservation practice with little engagement of public funds. Additionally a cultural and tourist promotion of the „Settlements of Modernism“ in Zabrze is desirable.

Background:
Zabrze is located in the middle of the Upper-Silesian agglomeration. In the 19th century in the course of coal based industrialization the city underwent a rapid development. In 1920s with the help of famous architects like Hans Poelzig and Dominikus Böhm the housing developments in the new „city“ were enlarged. Today these buildings and ensembles are places of interest, but not in social awareness of the residents.
