F3 Brass Factory
From brass factory to leisure oasis
F.03

INIK strategy:
The municipality of Eberswalde is going to develop the area of brass factory and its workers’ housing as a pleasure craft harbor with overnight accommodation for the tourists. The basis for the development of this site into economic sustainable leisure quarter is the use concept elaborated by the municipality. For the implementation of the project "Leisure quarter – Brass Factory" INIK proposes public-private partnership made up of city-owned housing and property management association and private leisure companies.

Background:
The district Brass Factory is characterized by the waterscape of the Freigraben island and little ponds, as well as by the towering water tower of the factory. Next to the factory is located copperhouse settlement 1920-1930 co-designed by the architect Walter Gropius. Because of the deconstruction measures it is not possible to experience this historic valuable ensemble of factory premises, copperhouse settlement and water tower as a whole. Not only potential of the location but foremost the framework of urban planning and terms of planning law in Eberswalde could contribute to the positive development of the brass factory ensemble.
