C1 Stölzle-Lausitz Glass Factory
Factory Will Unite The City
C.01

INIK Strategy:
INIK intends a new orientation to the site of the Stölzle-Lausitz Glass Factory in Weißwasser. The goal is to achieve this through creating a glass-center that, on one hand, will compliment the site of the factory—which so far has been used purely commercially—and on the other, will tie together cultural events, trade and services.

Background:
The marketing potential of Weißwasser, an important trans-regional and industrial-historical site, has been fully exhausted neither by the city nor by the management of the glass factory.
For the glass industry, Weißwasser is an important town with a long tradition. Wilhelm Wagenfeld, the famous Bauhaus designer, worked as the artistic director of the Vereinigte Lausitzer Glaswerke in Weißwasser, a company that was acquired in 1996 and subsequently modernized by the Stölzle Lausitz Glass Factory. Today the factory is successfully producing glass for wholesale trade and retail.
The architectural quality of the hall, its location within the center of town and the historical background form a promising basis for development of the building.
