Industrial Park of Ideas

INIK strategy:
The INIK’s idea for the Silesian Industrial Park based on an open-end development concept: foremost young regional research institutes acting at the technical universities can find here their location. In this way an innovation cluster will be built. On the one hand the companies can positive and mutual influence their development; on the other hand such a cluster creates an interdisciplinary working atmosphere for the applied research. In the long-terms the industrial park will be developed into an important competence center that will have a positive impact of the development of the city and the region.

Background:
Ruda Śląska is located in the Upper-Silesian Black Coal Basin and has decentralized urban spatial structure. The numerous industrial wastelands build up kind of in-between zones that emphasize the lost of urban space. The old colliery „Walenty- Wawel“ with its area of 200 ha is one of these zones. Within a joint initiative was created a basic framework for the new industrial park, which should overtake the model functions for the Upper-Silesia.
